Raw

Raw is a hard-hitting memoir telling the story of a young girl who was sexually abused by the Senior Social Worker in a children’s home in West London in the 1980s. Matthew’s slow and cunning grooming of Marni and their subsequent relationship is described in harrowing detail, as the paedophile leads his victim further and further down the path of depravity, turning her eventually into a child prostitute. Though graphic and at times deeply shocking, Marni’s story is told without self-pity and often with an appealingly streetwise humour. Here, for the first time, the detail of how this process takes place, day to day, week to week, is revealed by a victim who is not ashamed to remember the very worst that happened to her.
