David Batty biography

After reading Modern History at Oxford, David Batty became a documentary filmmaker and he now has over 20 years' experience of producing, directing and writing for television. His most recent film is the 90-minute special 'HITLER IN COLOUR', broadcast as the centrepiece of ITV's 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This documentary is the culmination of ten years' research in archives all over the world and makes exclusive use of colour archive film - some of it never before seen - of Hitler and Nazi Germany, interwoven with the diaries, letters and speeches of contemporary witnesses. It is the latest in the internationally acclaimed and award-winning 'In Colour' series (Second World War in Colour, Britain at War in Colour, America's War, Japan's War).

His other films include several for Channel 4's award-winning Cutting Edge strand and a series of 90-minute biographies on senior members of the royal family - THE REAL PRINCE PHILIP, THE REAL QUEEN MOTHER, THE REAL QUEEN and THE REAL PRINCE CHARLES.

His first book, JAPAN'S WAR IN COLOUR, published by Carlton Books, included many rare and unseen colour photographs of Japan in the 1930s and 1940s. He is now writing an illustrated biography of Hitler.
