Tom Carew joined the Army in 1970 and after basic training, he went on to join 16 Para Bde in Aldershot. In Jan 1973 he arrived in Herefords Bradbury Lines for SAS Selection; on the final test during test week’s selection he injured his leg and was asked to and accepted to join Demo Troop. It was while on this troop Carew was sent to the then new training area that was to become home to the DET. Whilst there, Carew had a run -in with a retired officer in charge of the training wing and as a result he never returned to 22 SAS. Returning to Aldershot, he found that his own unit was to be disbanded . He was contacted by a former ex SAS Staff Sgt and joined the grey world of Military Advisors and Secret Operations known as “Black Bag Jobs”. Rising from a basic operator in Africa to the rank of Field Operations Operator, he commanded a number of ex SAS soldiers in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Latin America, to Croatia and Bosnia as well as a few other locations which for now must remain undisclosed!
Tom Carew Lives with his Muslim girl friend in Continental Europe.
