Mary Fenwick was born in New Zealand in 1962. After a degree in history and politics, and a year spent living in Paris, she joined Radio New Zealand as a journalist and newsreader. In 1990 she left to travel on a German container ship across the Pacific Ocean, before ending up in London where she worked for London Weekend Television in the early days of fly-on-the wall documentaries.
Three children, one divorce, a re-marriage and a step-daughter later she now works as a freelance journalist for both New Zealand and UK newspapers and magazines (including The Times and Unlimited). She also chairs New Zealand’s global talent community (http://www.keanewzealand.com/) in the UK.
Her main interest is in how relationships work, in people’s business and personal lives. Her first book is about divorce from the inside out, using personal testimonies.

how i found the agency
Andrew was suggested to me by another agent, as someone who specialised in journalists who write books, with an interest in first person story-telling. The website created an impression that Andrew would be approachable, decisive and focussed. This proved to be the case as he responded to my first email within a couple of hours. After months of feeling that I was fighting an uphill battle alone, I quickly came to feel that Andrew completely “got it” and would be an excellent person to have in my corner.
