how I found the agency

"After finishing my very first manuscript entitled TO THE EDGE OF THE SKY, I had a hard time trying to get an Agent or a Publisher to take an interest. For the best part of two years parcels containing a synopsis and sample chapters kept coming and going between my home and literary establishment addresses taken from the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook. Some of those parcels seemingly just disappeared into the ether. One fellow working for one well-known publisher, after asking to see the complete 650-page story, without the slightest hint of an apology, admitted that the whole lot had somehow got lost. Rejection slips mounted up, but I was determined not to give up after the hard work and the thousands of hours I had put into getting the thing written."

"One day I read an article in the Writers' News about Andrew Lownie, an agent looking for non-fiction works with a political flair. Without must hope but never-say-die, I posted off another parcel. To my surprise and delight, two days later there was Andrew on the telephone asking to see the rest! To cut a long story short, Andrew agreed to represent me. Soon after signing the Agency Agreement, he telephoned to say that he had secured a five-figure advance from Penguin. Yippee! Since then he has conducted our business with the utmost efficiency. A good agent is Andrew Lownie! I don't think I would have made it as a published author without Andrew Lownie."
