Abuse comes in many forms – physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. They are not neat categories but often overlap, so that an abused child will have suffered in a number of ways. Emotional abuse is almost always present with other forms of abuse, and often the scars run deeper and last longer.
This is the true story of Donna who was ten when she went to live with Cathy. At the time Cathy had been fostering for eleven years, and it is set before she had fostered Jodie (Damaged), or Tayo (Hidden), or Wayne (Kids in Care), or before she had fostered Lucy whom she went on to adopt. When Donna arrived, Cathy’s son, Adrian, was ten and her daughter, Paula, was six; the impact Donna had on all their lives was enormous, and what she achieved has stayed with the whole family.
