Glyn Gowans, who read law at Durham University (1972-75), is a former partner in a major law firm. He headed the Intellectual Property Department, and his clients included major multinationals, inventors, designers and writers. He also served as Chairman of the Solicitors European Group (North West), regularly chairing and speaking at conferences, both in the UK and abroad.
Long interested in the history of the House of Windsor, he has spent the past four years uncovering the life of Prince George, Duke of Kent, the present Duke’s father and uncle of the Queen. George, the most glamorous and cultured of George V’s sons, died in unsolved air crash in 1942 while on a secret ‘special mission’. Drawing on much unpublished material, including formerly closed files at the National Archives and George’s correspondence over many years with two of his closest friends, Glyn’s biography will reassess George’s reputation, revealing for the first time the man behind the glossy image and the true nature of his wartime ‘special mission’.
how I found the agency
Like a meticulous lawyer, I first carefully studied the entries of every agency in the Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook and scores of agency websites. I was impressed by Andrew’s qualifications, experience, track record, and the obvious loyalty of his clients. He was, therefore, the first agent I approached for the biography, and, to my delight, he responded positively by return of e-mail. I admire his dedication and value his advice and encouragement. Indeed, I have unhesitatingly recommended him to other writers.
