how I found the agency
"I first came across the name Andrew Lownie in the announcement of the Biographers Club Prize and since I was researching a biography at the time, the words £1000 for a biography proposal' leapt off the page. Entries were to be sent to Andrew, and the next I heard from him was when he emailed to invite me to the prize presentation. Not that I'd won! Encouraged by Andrew, I entered again the next year, only to be informed that once again, I had missed the first place. Andrew, however, suggested the names of three commissioning editors who might look kindly on my proposal. When two of them replied with interest, Andrew took me onto his agency and negotiated the deal for me. The biography never was published. My book was, though, transformed into 'Storm Warning', the history of the weather forecast. I was amazed at Andrew's interest in my book and all encouragement he gave me, before I even joined his agency. I might not have collected the £1000, but I won the coveted prize of publication, thanks to Andrew. I am very grateful."subscribe to agency's newsletter
