After graduating with a first in English literature from Lincoln College, Oxford, he worked for seven years as a teacher of English and drama, before succumbing to the attractions of a freelance lifestyle.

how I found the agency

I was very taken by the website. It’s surprising how few agencies have sites - and even fewer seem to have good ones. If agents can’t market themselves effectively, then you have to doubt whether they will be able to sell your book. Andrew Lownie’s website is excellent and gives you a real sense of his interests and enthusiasms.

I was impressed by Andrew’s speedy response to my proposal and by his perceptive comments and ideas. It’s nice to find someone who is straightforward to deal with, and who tells you what he really thinks.
