Tony David Biography

Tony David, who earned his PhD in European history from the University of Chicago, has written biographies and memoirs for leading figures in Israel and Palestine, including Friendly Fire: How Israel Became Its Own Worst Enemy and Its Hope for the Future, written with Ami Ayalon, former director of the Israeli Shin Bet; Once Upon a Country: A Palestinian Life, written with the Palestinian philosopher Sari Nusseibeh; and An Improbable Friendship, which told the story of the secret, forty-year friendship between Ruth Dayan, widow of the Israeli military leader Moshe Dayan, and Raymonda Tawil, the Palestinian journalist and mother-in-law of Yasser Arafat, a bond forged in the aftermath of the 1967 Six-Day War.
