A Baby's Cry
When Cathy is asked to foster a new born baby her only concern is if she will be able remember how to look after a baby as she usually fosters older children, often with behavioural problems. Reassuring herself that ‘it will all come back,’ Cathy collects baby Harrison from the hospital when he is only one day old. However, she soon realizes that caring for the baby is the least of her worries as Harrison’s background is shrouded in secrecy and his very existence is known only to a few.
Harrison’s social worker tells Cathy that strict confidentiality has to be maintained or the lives of Harrison and his parents could be in danger. Not even Cathy is given any background information. When a woman starts appearing in the street outside Cathy’s house and runs off before Cathy can talk to her, Cathy becomes concerned for her own family’s safety and demands some answers. What she is told by Harrison’s social worker is both sad and shocking and will affect Harrison’s life forever.
