A Terrible Secret
Cathy Glass
Tilly, aged 14, is very angry with her parents. Her step-father, Dave, abuses her mother, but she won’t leave him. Unable to cope with their fighting any longer and fearing for her own safety Tilly puts herself into foster care. She arrives at experienced foster carer, Cathy’s home with a cut on her face from getting in the way of another fight.
As well as looking after Tilly and keeping her safe Cathy is worried about her own daughter, Lucy, who has confided she is pregnant. She’s asked that no one else knows until she has decided what to do. Cathy hopes and prays she makes the right decision as it will affect the rest of her life.
Tilly’s step-father Dave becomes increasingly controlling and vindictive, but Cathy is shocked at the lengths he will go to. It isn’t normal and Cathy suspects there is something else going on that no one knows about. Unfortunately it turns out she is right.

Cathy Glass
Cathy has been a foster carer for over 25 years, during which time she has looked after more than 150 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She is a specialist foster carer, also referred to as a level three carer, which means she often looks after children with complex needs or those with very challenging behaviour. Much of her inspiration for writing comes from fostering. She was awarded a degree in education and psychology, as a mature student.
