My Extra Life
In My Extra Life, Alan White will tell the story of a national obsession. He will chart the growth of the video game market through a combination of anecdote and analysis, explaining its social and economic effects with help from interviewees who have worked as professionals in the games industry (and a few other people who just happen to have played games with him at some point).
But this isn’t a straight history of the industry. It’s also a witty chronicle of the decline and fall of one man: the author himself. It is the story of the professional, social and indeed sexual opportunities that he has missed as a result of his addiction to video games: the pastime that has made him the resentful failure he is today.
